REAL estate firm Savills has moved into a new office in Taunton.

The new space at Kingston House, on Blackbrook Park Avenue, provides the 30-strong multi-disciplinary team with an agile, open-plan working environment.

The office design, project management and contract administration for the relocation was undertaken by Ed Vereker and Adam Williams, members of Savills architecture and building surveying team based in Taunton.

Mr Williams said: "Savills Taunton team comprises 30 experts operating across the breadth of the real estate sector in the South West from planning consultancy, building and surveying through to rural lettings, management and professional services.

"Our working culture is dynamic and collaborative and we wanted to create a setting that reflects and enhances this.

"We created a large open-plan workspace, along with a single person booth and four to six person pod.

"The different formats allow for different types of working – private, alongside colleagues and as a group – on a day-to-day basis.

"Alongside this we introduced features such as open modular units, glazed walling and living green boxes, to elevate the environment."

Mr Williams said sustainability was a fundamental element of the design brief.

He added: "We wanted to build a sustainable future into our office design inside and out.

"This included the use of LED motion sensor lights and in-house recycling facilities, alongside the introduction of electric vehicle charging points to encourage greener travel."

The team also ensured redundant furniture was recycled into the local community.

Facilities also include a 14-seat boardroom and six-seat meeting room in the premises located next to junction 25 of the M5.

Head of Savills Taunton Simon Derby said: "The move comes after another successful year of regional business growth, including new food, farming and consultancy services alongside a number of new appointments.

"We support a diverse range of clients across the breadth of the property sector within Somerset and across the South West.

"While we considered a number of potential office locations along the M5 corridor, we see Taunton as an important springboard into the region and are keen to continue to support the community we have been a part of since 2006.

“We benefitted from our own in-house experts, who used 3D modelling to showcase how the space could be used, enabling a straightforward design process and a result which we are very pleased with."
