A DRIVER has a lucky escape after their vehicle was washed away in flood water in West Somerset on Sunday (February 16).
At 5.15pm, crews from Minehead and Porlock were sent to the scene after a vehicle attempted to cross a ford and was swept under a bridge.
Luckily the driver was able to escape from the vehicle before the force of the water pushed it downstream.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The incident commander confirmed no persons were trapped and the crew made the scene safe by putting a cordon in place and closing the footbridge.
"Please do not attempt to travel through flood water or fords in vehicles, as this not only puts yourself at great risk but also the public and first responders."
