North Wales Crusaders have signed hooker Andy Ball from amateur club Leigh East.

Ball, who has played for Leigh East since he was eight-years-old and has regularly been one of the club’s stand-out players, will give Crusaders boss Anthony Murray further options at nine.

On joining the Wrexham-based Cru, Ball said: “I’m excited for a different challenge and to test myself at a higher level.

“The intensity is going to be a lot higher than what I’ve probably been used to, but I’m hoping I can bring something a bit different and get a regular spot in the team.

“It seems like a great set up at the club and everyone I’ve met so far has been very welcoming.

“I want to hopefully have a couple of years at least at this level with the club and show what I can do.

“If Muzza needs me as early as this weekend, I’m ready to play.”

Ball will come straight into contention as Crusaders travel to London Skolars for their League One opener on Sunday.
