THREE people have been rescued from a car that was stuck in floodwater.

Emergency services rushed to Nynehead, near Wellington, to reports the car was stuck in the fast-flowing water.

Engines from Wellington and Taunton, and a specialist rescue team form Exmouth, attended at around 10am this morning (February 29).

A spokesperson said: "Upon arrival, crews found three people stuck within floodwater in a car. Crews wearing dry suits were eventually able to assist the male driver to dry land.

"Members of public are requested to drive the county roads using caution during this period of heavy persistent rain and do not attempt to drive through flood water as this could endanger their lives."
