A HOST of Basingstoke eateries had fresh food hygiene ratings released last month.
Those eateries include restaurants, pubs, takeaway spots, and even schools, nurseries and cafes or canteens within local businesses.
The Food Standards Agency carries out inspections and rates the observed hygiene standards on a scale. Five is the best rating, meaning standards are very good and fully comply with the law. Zero is the worst, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.
Ratings may be made public immediately by the local council, or after a number of weeks. Often it depends on the circumstances and whether the recipient appealed the decision.
