A BOOZE thief who stole more than £600 worth of alcohol from Basingstoke shops has been sent to prison.
Jacalyn Jones, of May Place House, in Basingstoke, this week pleaded guilty to a host of thefts at Basingstoke magistrate court.
Between December 2019 and March of this year, on seven separate occasions she stole alcohol from shops including Morrisons, Iceland and Sainsbury’s.
In three instances she stole more than £100 worth of alcohol, including £149 worth from Morrisons the day after Valentine’s Day. On another day she stole just £15.50 worth of drink and yoghurts from Iceland.
The 39-year-old was jailed for six weeks for all of the thefts.
She also faced further charges of assaulting four different people in Basingstoke on February 15 – the same day she stole £150 of booze from Morrisons - plus two more thefts of meat and other food items from Co-op and the BP garage, in Grove Road, on November 24, last year.
For the assaults she was given an additional eight weeks in prison and made to pay £25 compensation for each offence.
She was also found to be in breach of a suspended sentence given to her by the same court on January 29 in relation to a trio of theft offences.
In total she was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.
