A NUMBER of talks at a Taunton bookshop have been postponed as the coronavirus limits people's activities - but the store has vowed to deliver books to those in need of literary supplies.

Following the Government's announcements of more restrictions for the public, Brendan Books, in Bath Place, announced it was postponing talks set for today (March 17) and later this week (March 20), when authors Anita Roy and Hazel Prior were due to speak.

However, people can order copies of either Anita or Hazel's books - A Year in Kingcombe and Away With the Penguins - with free postage.

"It is likely that we will postpone further talks," a store spokesperson said.

"We will provide further information at the end of the week when we have spoken to the authors."

However, the shop vowed to stay open 'as long as we are allowed to', and is now offering a free delivery service to book lovers in the TA1 and TA2 postcode areas.

The spokesperson continued: "As far as the bookshop is concerned generally, we would like to continue supplying books and maintaining our relationship with our customers as much as possible.

"We will remain open as long as we are allowed to.

"For those who feel they cannot visit the bookshop in person we will be offering a free delivery service to customers in the TA1 and TA2 area and can post books out at cost to other areas."

Orders and payment are being taken by phone on 01823 337742 (9.15am - 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday), or by email to brendonbooks@gmail.com, or the contact form at www.brendonbooks.co.uk.
