MULTIPLE bonfires have been reported by neighbours across Hampshire during the coronavirus lockdown.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service received four calls this last night (Wednesday), either from residents who can see smoke or to report their neighbours having bonfires.

Three further calls also involved youths lighting fires in areas across the region, as well as two hoax calls.

They are advising people to contact Environmental Health if they want to make complaints about bonfires being carried out by others.

A spokesperson Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "If it is a neighbour being reported for controlled burning, we will not attend unless the fire is out of control as it is reporting a nuisance.

"But if someone can see smoke and they do not know what has caused it, we will investigate."
