WHAT do you do when your family's in lockdown and McDonald's is closed?

It was obvious to a family of five from Williton - you make your own Happy Meals.

Charlotte Finch rustled up an eat-at-home 'takeaway' for children Harvey, 12, Teddy, three, and Evie, two.

The youngsters were certainly 'happy', as they tucked into their chicken nuggets and chips and cola, all in imitation McDonald's packaging.

Charlotte and the children's dad Matt Kingdon have been busy organising fun activities for the children during the three-week 'stay home' enforced by the coronavirus crisis.

Charlotte said: "Our most recent activity was a homemade ‘takeaway’ that I had to improvise for the children, due to their favourite take out being currently closed.

"I made little McDonald's happy meals for them - it's safe to say they were ‘lovin' it’."

Other activities the family has been enjoying include paper mache making, pinata, Easter crafts, racing car races made from toilet rolls, puppet making, and arts and crafts, including making a birdhouse from a milk cartoon.

Charlotte said: "The children have all stayed home for the past three weeks and have not left home at all.

"It has been challenging at times and also upsetting to see the desperation of the little ones asking to go out.

"But it is really not worth the risk, so we are following the government guidelines in the best interest of ourselves and others and are occupying ourselves while we remain at home.

"The activities have all been cost and time efficient to make, which I believe is crucial, especially in times that families maybe be experiencing financial difficulties.

"It is amazing what exciting, new things you can make from recycling rubbish."
