A WOMAN from Malpas will once again be tackling the catwalk after becoming the Miss England finalist for Cheshire.

Eleanor Farr, 25, is a photographer by trade, and last year reached the grand final of the prestigious event, missing out on the overall winner.

But this year Eleanor would like to go one step further and take the title herself.

Eleanor has struggled in life with Rheumatoid Arthritis, an auto-immune disease where the person's own immune system attacks the joints and other organs.

The effects of this disease eventually led to her requiring a hip replacement too, as the joint had been worn down.

Following her surgery in 2017, Eleanor has not looked back, and has used the beauty contest appearances as a way to raise money for charity.

This year's contest is slightly altered from last year, with the coronavirus preventing the typical rounds from taking place.

For 2020 the contest is online-focused, but that has not stopped Eleanor from focusing on the charity side of things.

"I'm a Miss Cheshire 2020 finalist, I must be mad," said Eleanor.

"They're doing the contest very online-focused this time around as obviously things I did last time like community work and fundraising are a little more tricky when everyone is confined to indoors, and people are also more cautious about their spending.

"Therefore the charity focus is Elle for Elle, which collects unused toiletries etc to be donated to refuge centres of people fleeing violent and abusive domestic situations.

"There is also another charity this year that the girls are all trying to raise funds for, called 'One Woman at a Time', which works towards preventing or helping victims of forced marriage and genital mutilation – that's the charity element.

"The rounds we were originally going to have, such as a sports round, are being changed to accommodate the lockdown so there will be more 'online-based' challenges to come.

"But so far the focus is on the charity work and then also getting 'clicks' on our online profile.

"The click counter starts this Sunday apparently, I think by which time we'll also have a video up there explaining a little bit about ourselves.

"There is a date for the final set which is Saturday, September 5, so there will still be a live catwalk event which obviously I'm super pleased about."
