FOUR more people at died at Somerset hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19, the latest figures have revealed.

Two of the deaths were recorded within the Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust, which manages Musgrove Park Hospital.

The latest deaths were on April 5 and 6, and follow the three deaths announced yesterday (April 8).

The other deaths were in the Yeovil District Hospital NHS Trust.

They were recorded on April 6 and 7.

Somerset's total number of deaths has now risen to 21.

Across the UK, 765 new deaths were announced today, with 416 of the victims being over the age of 80.

A total of 7,978 patients have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Wednesday (April 8), Dominic Raab has said.

This is an increase of 881 from 7,097 the day before.

The latest victims announced were aged between 24 and 103-years old. Some 43 of the 765 patients (aged between 33 and 99 years old) had no known underlying health condition.
