The Hinkley Point C project has provided 1,000 face masks to the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service who were in need of help with the supply of personal protective equipment.

Lee Howell, chief fire officer for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, said: "I just wanted to place on record my sincere appreciation for the 1,000 face masks that Hinkley Point C have kindly donated to us.

"It was very kind and thoughtful and shows just how strong the relationship has become.

"Very many thanks for thinking of us – these will help us move forward rapidly with some of our work with other agencies and will help us keep our staff and communities safe."

Core construction is still ongoing at Hinkley C, with fewer than 2,000 workers now on site.
