IN coronavirus figures just released, the NHS has reported a death-free 24 hours in Somerset hospitals.

The welcome news relates to statistics from NHS trusts in the area covered by Somerset County Council in the period to 5pm yesterday (Tuesday).

It means the total of deaths in hospitals in the county remains at 56.

The county's death toll is comprised of 35 people in the care of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, which was established through the merger of Somerset Foundation Trust and Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, based at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton; 18 in hospital in Yeovil; and three at Weston General Hospital.
