POLICE intervened after 12 families flouted the rules and lit barbeques at a beauty spot.
The barbeques at Greatwood, on the Quantock Hills, included two open fires.
They were lit despite warning signs of the current risk of fires in forests, woods and open ground following the recent hot, dry spell.
The fires and barbeques were all put ouf following the attendance of special constables.
