JUST one coronavirus-related death has been reported by Lancashire's hospitals over the last day as fatality rates continue to slow across the country.

The only trust in the county to report a death since Sunday was Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, which now has a total death toll of 186.

However the reporting of figures is known to be a little skewed on Mondays, following on from the weekend delay in verifying and publishing new deaths.

The number of fatalities within the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, which manages the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General, remains at 186.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which operates the Royal Preston, has a death toll of 208.

Further west, the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Foundation Trust has reported 138 deaths from within its facilities.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has now recorded a total of 162 fatalities, bringing deaths across the county as a whole to 880.

The North West is now the hardest hit region outside of London, having recorded 4,220 fatalities since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.
