PROTESTS in Basingstoke continued throughout the weekend, as residents lent their voice to the thousands of others across the country supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

After gathering in the town on Thursday and Friday, hundreds of people were again seen assembling in Eastrop Park to spread their anti-racism message.

Police told the Gazette that the event remained “peaceful throughout” as speakers addressed the crowds, attendees chanted in unison and dropped to one knee for nine minutes - roughly the same amount of time that a police officer knelt on George Floyd's neck as he died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last month.

Dozens of signs championing the cause were spotted amongst the throngs of people, many of which you will find in our gallery depicting the protests from Saturday.
