ENVIRONMENTAL charity Greenpeace has announced a series of special virtual concerts to mark the festival season.

As we enter festival season, the charity would normally be hosting events across the country, including preparing the Greenpeace Field at Glastonbury.

However, with the Covid-19 pandemic seeing most summer events cancelled, it has created the Greenpeace AAA (Action All Areas) initiative to take the message to people.

The event, which runs from June 18 to 20, will feature exclusive performances from Alice Phoebe Lou, Arlo Parks, Baaba Maal, Denai Moore, Georgia, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Self Esteem, Tim Burgess and more to be announced.

"Normally at this time of year Greenpeace would be preparing to hit the road for a summer filled with festival appearances and collaborations, bringing their vital message to festival-goers across the land," said a Greenpeace spokesperson.

"This year, instead, Greenpeace has announced a way to keep the party and activism message strong - ‘Greenpeace AAA (Action All Areas)’- an inclusive online experience open to all.

"Greenpeace will present an array of music performances, live DJ sessions, plus much more, focusing on how - once the worst of the COVID crisis has settled - we must come together and push forward to build a fairer, safer, cleaner, and more resilient world."

Somerset County Gazette:

Greenpeace AAA will focus on three areas, the charity said:

1) ACTION – Take action with Greenpeace.

Non-violent direct action is the beating heart of Greenpeace. People who take action are preventing damage to the environment and disrupting business-as-usual. It’s important to stand up for what’s right. Together we can defend the natural world and stand for a green and peaceful future.

Now more than ever, with what is happening around the world and the anti-racist movement, we need to come together and speak up. Inequality and the perpetuation of oppression is one critical reason humanity is now facing the climate crisis.

A call to arms - by joining Greenpeace you choose to share the vision of a greener, healthier and more peaceful planet.

This virtual space will focus on 7 ways to join Greenpeace in activism.

2) ALL (you can eat!) – easy guide to eating ‘better’ for yourself and the planet.

This area will focus on the benefits of a plant-based diet to protect our ancient forests. One of the most useful things everyone can do to take action on climate change *right now* is to eat less meat. Eating plant-based food can be tasty too!

In this section you will find tips to increase the amount of plant-based foods in your diet and why this is a good thing for the health of the planet.

Featuring plant-based cooking shows with celebrity chefs (names TBA soon), easy guide recipes, gardening tips, plus much more.

3) AREAS – exclusive performances, DJs, backstage chat etc. presented by the brilliant presenter, humanitarian, DJ and vegan Sarah Lamptey.
