THE number of visitors to Taunton town centre showed a large increase yesterday (Tuesday).
Footfall in the county town peaked at around 3,000 at 11am.
There were almost 1,000 people in the centre at around 8am, tripling over the ensuing three hours.
Numbers fell gradually after 11am but didn't go belolw 2,000 until shortly before 4pm.
And there were still around 1,000 people in the town centre at 5pm.
On Monday, the first day that non-essential shops re-opened since lockdown, footfall peaked at 2,000 at 11am
