A spokesman said the racecourse had been misinformed.
ANYONE wishing to be tested for Covid-19 can now do so in Taunton without an appointment.
A spokesman for the facility at Taunton Racecourse said: "The testing centre at Taunton Racecourse is now open to anyone wishing to have a test, no appointment is necessary."
The facility opened earlier on Saturday, June 6, as part of the Government's UKwide drive to increase testing for coronavirus.
Anyone testing positive for the virus will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace to help them track their contacts.
The aim is to help people identify who they may have been in close contact with and advising them to self isolate to protect others from further transmission.
