TAUNTON town centre is continuing to attract thousands of shoppers following the easing of lockdown measures.
With shops selling non-essential items allowed to open from Monday, people have flocked back to the county town.
Soon after 8am yesterday (Wednesday), there were 1,000 people in the shopping centre, rising to 2,000 by about 9am and 3,000 an hour later.
The figure remained around 3,000 until 2pm, not falling to below 2,000 until shortly before 4pm.
There were still around 1,000 people in the town centre at 5pm.
The statistics are roughly in line with the previous day, but up on Monday.
