THESE heavy boulders have been plonked at a car park entrance gate at a Taunton leisure centre to keep travellers out.
The rocks were placed at the council-owned Blackbrook Leisure Centre in an attempt to prevent any more unauthorised encampments of caravans and cars being set up there.
The site has a history of incursions that can lead to the venue being closed and leaving the authority with costly legal and clean up bills.
SWT leader Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts said: "We understand the concern that these traveller encampments create and are keen to provide assurance to the local community.
"I am pleased that the council has been able to respond positively to this ongoing issue.
"This does not detract from our obligations to the travelling community and we continue to take our responsibility to them seriously."
