THERE will be minimal waste when customers return to the 'new norm' at a village pub.
Peter and Val Mustoe have invested in fully and non-reusable compostable cutlery and 'crockery' at the Monkton Inn, West Monkton, for the safety of staff and customers.
The plates, knives, forks, spoons and cups are made of plant-based materials, while the glasses to be used in the garden are 100 per cent recyclable, which is viewed as better for the environment than biodegradable plastics.
Val said: "All the tables in our garden are socially distanced with hand sanitising stations at the entrance, in the toilets and at various points around the garden.
"We are Covid-19 compliant, and our risk assessment will be available for anyone who wishes to see it.
"We are a multi-award winning pub with a beautiful garden and kids play area.
"We have throwaway menus offering both traditional and South African dishes for adults and children, with under fives eating for free.
"We are so looking forward to welcoming you all and want to assure everyone that your safety and wellbeing is our priority so you will want to come back and see us again."
