A VILLAGE’s farmers’ market will return next Saturday giving people the opportunity to support local businesses once again.

Houghton village farmers’ market is re-opening on Saturday, July 11 after closing due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Eight businesses, which sell food and crafted items, will be attending the market.

Susan Aglionby, one of the organisers and business owners, said: “I’m absolutely delighted, I really am.

“The lockdown has been a challenge for some people, it really has.

“We hope that the people who have been buying from us during the last few months will continue to buy from us.”

The market usually takes place inside Houghton village hall but now it will be held on the village green instead.

“We’ve got two stewards making sure people keep their social distance from each other and from the stall holders,” said Susan.

“It will be a time for people to come together at a distance and there will be hand washing and sanitising facilities there.”

It will take place from 9am.
