NEARLY a dozen police officers were 'punched, kicked, headbutted and racially abused' while on duty in a 24 hour period of 'violence and abuse', the chairman of Avon and Somerset Police Federation has said.
In a post on Twitter on Saturday (July 18) Inspector Andy Roebuck, chairman of Avon and Somerset Police Federation, expressed his disgust at the incidents in which 11 officers were assaulted.
His tweet said: "11 @ASPolice Officers inc @ASPSpecials assaulted during the past 24hrs.
"A period of violence & abuse, with officers, punched, kicked, head butted & racially abused. Absolutely disgusting.
"I’ll speak with these officers, ensuring they’re looked after. I expect a number of charges."
