A POPULAR convenience store has been sold.

The Jones Convenience Store in Shepton Mallett has been sold - but it is believed the shop will continue to run under the new owners.

Previous owner, L&F Jones, decided to sell the store in order to focus on its hospitality business at the Best Western Plus Centurion Hotel in Radstock.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Robin Allen, said: “We wish the new owners success in the future. We would also like to thank the team at Christie & Co for managing the sale process so expertly and efficiently through the difficult times presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The business has been purchased by Nareshbhai Solanki, who also owns Burnaby stores in Whitchurch.

He said: “My experience with Christie & Co has been wonderful, Jamie and Dave have been very co-operative and helpful from the start.

"We are planning for the business to have a total refit and join the Premier symbol group. Good luck to L&F Jones with their future plans."

Jamie Williams, business agent at Christie & Co, added: “The store attracted five offers after twelve viewings, which demonstrates the high demand the market is currently experiencing for stores turning over under £10k per week if they are accurately priced.

"As the market continues to improve, with more and more buyers available after strong sales at already owned stores throughout Covid-19, now is an excellent time to sell your business if you are considering it."

Jones Convenience Store was sold at an undisclosed price.
