AN online series of classical concerts starts next week in the hope of raising money for Concerts in the West.
Due to the coronavirus crisis, the charity decided to feature a series of 18 pre-recorded online concerts on Facebook, Youtube and on its website.
Catherine Maddocks, founder and director of Concerts in the West, said: “We want to keep music alive for our audiences and have therefore decided to create an online series, which will run over several weeks in the late summer and early Autumn.
“Riccardo Pes has been helping us with this, particularly on the technical side.
“He organised the Andrà tutto bene Festival early in the lockdown so is very active and knowledgeable in this field.”
The charity has not sold tickets for the online concerts and is funding them from their own resources, but Catherine has given audience members the option to donate.
“We hope people enjoy our online series, which is being funded from our own resources” Catherine added.
“We aren’t selling tickets, so it would be lovely if our audiences could donate to support us and the musicians.”
The concerts will start on August 20, with Emily Andrews (flute), David Massey and Francisco Correa (guitars) and finish on October 22 with the Ferio Saxophone Quartet. Each concert will last up to 45 minutes.
