BRIDPORT Museum’s Historic Guided Walks are returning by popular demand this summer, as museum management hope to reopen as soon as possible.

A team of volunteer guides will lead socially-distanced walks around Bridport, sharing some fascinating insights into the unique past of the town.

The walks will run every Tuesday and Thursday during the school holidays beginning on Tuesday 4 August. The walks will follow two different themes, ‘Bridport Now and Then: Homes and Businesses Cheek by Jowl’ on Tuesdays, and ‘Rope for Royalty: The Growth of Bridport's wealth’ on Thursdays.

The walks leave from the museum at 10am, and last around an hour and a half. Tickets cost £5 per adult, whilst under 16s can attend for free.

There is no need to pre-book, but numbers will be limited to 10 people per walk to enable easy social-distancing.

The museum is still currently closed due to the coronavirus crisis, but staff are working hard to plan how they can reopen safely. They hope to be able to open to the public once again as soon as possible.

The museum is currently only accepting cash payments for the walks, so be sure to bring the correct amount so no change is required. No card payments will be accepted.

Emily Hicks, director of the Bridport Museum, said: “We’re currently working really hard behind the scenes so we can open soon and safely. In the meantime, why not discover more of the hidden histories all around you and join our volunteers on a stroll back in time? "If you aren’t able to join a walk, then you can download one of our heritage trails from our website and get out and about whenever you feel like it.”
