A SHOPPER says an Amazon delivery driver left his new computer kit in his wheelie bin -- and sent him a photo to show his 'successful' drop off.

James Bull, 41, said he left strict instructions for the delivery driver to come back another day if he wasn't in to collect the parcel himself.

But while he was away from home for the night, the worker left the £500 parcel inside his black bin - and uploaded a snap to this account.

Engineer James had to text his neighbour to go and retrieve it before the bins were emptied the next day.

He claims the hard drives were damaged beyond repair when they were dropped in the bin, and has asked for a refund.

James, a consultant engineer, from Bridgwater, Somerset, said: "When I saw that they'd left the parcel in my bin I was so shocked at how brazen they were about it.

"They obviously thought it was a perfectly safe and reasonable place to leave a parcel worth £500."

"I'm struggling to see what was going through their head, and wondering why an earth they'd want to be touching anyone else's bin during the coronavirus pandemic.

"The response I have received from Amazon about the issue has been very disappointing.

"My equipment is broken and they don't seem to care one bit.

"If it wasn't for my neighbour the bin men would have come and emptied my bin, but as it happens they may as well have as the hard drives are now unusable anyway."

The parcel arrived on July 31, and James claimed the delivery driver crossed out his instructions and scribbled some saying they had left it in the bin.

A spokesman for Amazon said: "We have very high standards for our delivery partners and expect every package to be handled with care."

"We've notified the right teams internally and will work with the customer directly on matters related to their package delivery."
