Devizes head Phil Bevan has congratulated pupils on their GCSE results and their adaptability during the coronavirus emergency.

Mr Bevan, who starts a new job in September, said: "We would like to give a big congratulations to every student receiving their results today.

"This is a crucial stage of every student’s education, and for it to have been disrupted under such exceptional and unusual circumstances has significantly tested this year's cohort.

"We have therefore been very impressed with the adaptability and hard work that our students have demonstrated, and we hope that every student gets the chance to celebrate their achievements and thoroughly enjoy the remaining weeks of the summer.

"Our staff, parents, and wider school community have also done the school proud over the past several months, and they deserve a big thanks for their continued support."

He said that staff would remain available to provide advice and support for those seeking additional assistance, whether they are assessing their options at our sixth form, or looking for other post-16 educational opportunities.

He said: "With September approaching, we are looking forward to welcoming all our students back and introducing our new year 12s to our sixth form campus at Devizes and Lavington."
