A POPULAR literary festival has been cancelled.

The 2020 Taunton Literary festival was due to take place in November, but has now been postponed until Spring 2021.

“The cancellation of the festival is particularly sad as this would have marked the tenth year,” said Lionel Ward, organiser of the event.

“Over the years it has included a mix of local and regional authors as well as attracting national authors and luminaries such as David Mitchell, Ranulph Fiennes, Alan Johnson, Andy Hamilton, Adam Kay, Rachel Joyce, Salley Vickers and Pam Ayres.”

There is no firm date for the postponed festival, but Brendon Books have pencilled it in for April 2021.

Lionel added: “One of the features of the current crisis and event planning is that it does not pay to make firm plans too far ahead but we hope to be able to keep to the spring date.”

Brendon Books are planning a few socially distanced talks and podcasts in the autumn.
