THE owners of a Taunton pub which has not re-opened since lockdown measures were eased say they are "reviewing the current situation".

The Hideout, in Castle Green, has been closed since the end of March, when the Government pubs, eat-in restaurants, cinemas, leisure centres and cafes to shut because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pubs were allowed to re-open with safety measures in place from July 4.

Many Taunton pubs are now open again, but, two months on, The Hideout has still not welcomed back customers.

A spokesperson for Greene King, which operates the pub, said: “We’re pleased to have the vast majority of our pubs open and trading again.

"However there are still some sites such as The Hideout which remain closed for now while we continue to review the current situation with social distancing.

"We continue to keep our team updated and will let them know first of any developments."

A message on The Hideout's Facebook page says: "Despite the Government announcing pubs can open from the 4th July, we are unfortunately remaining closed for now.

"We continue to work in the background on getting open in the future, so please keep an eye out for further updates."
