POLICE and paramedics were called after an elderly man collapsed and died in a Taunton street.
Officers supported ambulance staff called to the incident in Castle Street, near the Tesco and Lidl stores, at lunchtime yesterday (Tuesday).
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We were called to support the ambulance service with a medical incident in Castle Street, Taunton, yesterday shortly before 1.30pm.
"Sadly a man in his 70s died at the scene.
"His family have been informed.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner."
