BARGAIN hunters rejoice - B&M Bargains is coming to Taunton.

The discount retailer confirmed it will be opening a store at the former Mothercare site at Deane Retail Park in Hankridge Way and is scheduled to open its doors on October 23 at 9am.

The store will undergo a comprehensive internal and external refurbishment programme and create more than 50 jobs for local people.

A spokesperson from B&M said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door next month.”

Staff members are being recruited for a range of full-time and part-time posts, with recruitment adverts posted by the firm for “colleagues and management to join the team” including roles in customer service, checkouts, replenishment and shop floor.

The new store is already listed on the company’s website as being located at Unit 1 at the retail park on Hankridge Way, confirming when it will open to customers but with no opening hours yet announced.

The discount retailer already has stores in Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Yeovil and Tiverton.

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including toys, food & drink, pet range, health & beauty and home wares in the store when it opens next month.

Chris Lang, a Taunton resident who visits the retail park on a regular basis, said he is pleased to see the firm is coming to Hankridge.

He said: "I think it's great that another empty unit is being filled with a well known brand, which will create more jobs in the area and keep Hankridge Farm relevant to Taunton."
