THE former MP for Eddisbury, Antoinette Sandbach has 'braved the shave' and raised more than £2,500 for cancer charity Macmillan.

Last Friday was Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning, a day that typically sees communities up and down the country hold coffee mornings to raise money for the charity.

This year Covid-19 restrictions and social-distancing measures have put paid to most public events, but people such as Antoinette have gone the extra mile to donate to Macmillan.

In August Antoinette revealed she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

To help raise money for the charity that provides support to people in similar positions to herself she took the decision to shave off all her hair, helping raise money in the process.

She said: "The rule of six and the Covid restrictions mean that many of the events haven't been able to take place.

"Macmillan provides vital cancer support for patients like me and our families and this is a charity I supported long before I had cancer.

"Thank you all for helping me raise over £1,500 for Macmillan.

"I will be match funding the amount raised with a similar donation to St Luke’s hospice in Winsford up to £2,500.

I am really grateful for your support and generosity. If you haven’t yet donated you can still do so.

"Please visit my just giving page and donate the price of a cup of coffee."
