A CARAVAN fire spread to a hedge in Langport this morning (October 2).
Fire crews from Somerton and Martock tackled the caravan awning fire at Wood Drove, Huish Episcopi at 8.56am.
A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “One fire appliance from Somerton and one from Martock were sent to a report of a fire involving a caravan awning.
“On arrival crews confirmed that the awning and part of the hedge were well alight.
“To deal with the incident, fire crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, and one covering jet.
“There was 40% fire damage to the awning and 10% smoke damage to the caravan.
“A gas cylinder was removed and cooled.”
