WORKS to give Burnham-on-Sea’s lower lighthouse a makeover are set to start next week.
The lighthouse, which is owned, operated and maintained by Sedgemoor District Council, was last decorated on the exterior in 2016 with specialist paint which is meant for a marine environment and exposed to salty air, spray and windy conditions.
The materials, special equipment needed for working on soft sand and labour will cost in the region of £9,450.
A spokesperson for Sedgemoor District Council, said: "For many residents and visitors, the lighthouse is an iconic photographic image, especially set against the dramatic sunsets, courtesy of the quality of light for which Burnham-on-Sea is well-known."
