A PRIMARY school in Somerset dressed in yellow to raise money for charity.

Staff at Elmhurst Junior School organised a Hello Yellow day to raise awareness about mental health.

Children and staff at the school in Street raised £558 for Young Minds.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Our Hello Yellow day marked the start of Mental Health Awareness week.

“Children and staff dressed in yellow and did lots of fun activities throughout the day, including judging the Elmhurst Staff Bake Off.

“Miss Birch was the winner with her fabulous honeycomb bee cake.

“We raised a grand total of £558 for Young Minds and our Just Giving fundraising page will remain active for the next couple of months.

“There is no doubt that many, many of us, children and adults alike, are struggling at this moment in time for many, many reasons – some are struggling linked to the current pandemic, the restrictions and the lack of contact with family and friends and some are struggling with the onset of winter and the dark mornings and nights.”
