A CAR, left abandoned in a Somerset field, was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning (October 27).
A fire crew from Castle Cary was sent to Higher Shepton Road, in Shepton Montague, at just after 2.30am after a report of a car on fire from a member of the public.
"The vehicle was well alight in the field on arrival of fire crews and they got to work with compressed air foam to extinguish the fire," said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
"The small vehicle was 100% destroyed by fire and the police were informed of the incident as there were no persons present."
