A TAUNTON hairdresser has decided to open her own salon - at the age of just 20 years old.

Lisa Sully, who trained at Combers Hair Salon until she was 18, is opening her own salon at Anna’s Nails & Beauty, Wood Street, Taunton.

“I’ve always wanted to do it and I knew it would happen at some point, I just didn’t expect it to happen now,” she said.

“One door closes and another one opens - I wouldn’t rely on that. You are supposed to get your training, then you stay employed, then you go self-employed and then you set up your own salon – I seemed to skip the self-employed stage.

“I have family, clients and friends supporting me and they all knew I wanted to open up a salon.

“Sometimes, these things just happen and they absolutely happen for a reason.”

Miss Sully built up her clients working at two Taunton Salons - Combers Outside-In Hair Academy and Vital Hair Salon.

“It is exciting, I’ve got plenty of clients and I am excited to be busy and working of my own accord and not working under someone else’s rules,” she added.

“It will be more relaxed as well as being more stressful I think.

“I will be offering the same services as what I did at Vital and Combers.

“I am still using Joico products and I have Beauty Works extensions set up as well.”

Miss Sully is opening her new salon this Saturday (October 31) at 9am, and already has bookings from regular clients.

She is excited to start her own career, even if it was earlier in her life than planned - and would encourage anyone to do the same.

“There is no reason why someone couldn’t start their own business, as long as they have got the right support.

“They would have to be dedicated - you cant be half hearted and think someone else will pick up the pieces.”
