FIREFIGHTERS rescued a drunken man after he fell into the river near Taunton town centre.
Emergency services were called to the scene in the River Tone, off Bridge Street, shortly after 6.30pm yesterday (Saturday).
Two fire engines from Taunton, along with the special rescue team from Bridgwater were mobilised to the incident
A number of ambulances and police cars were also sent to assist.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "On arrival, crews confirmed one intoxicated male in the water in a life ring.
"Crews got to work to help rescue the male from the water using triple extension ladder and water rescue equipment."
