AN ABANDONED vehicle was completely damaged by a "deliberate" fire in the early hours of this morning (November 4).

Fire crews believe the vehicle was abandoned after a road traffic collision two days ago.

The incident happened on Clink Road in Frome at 1.25am.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Fire control received calls reporting one vehicle on fire during the early hours of this morning.

"One fire engine from Frome was quickly mobilised and soon arrived on scene, confirming the vehicle was well alight.

"Fire crews got to work with the compressed air foam system and one hose reel jet and began to extinguish the fire.

"The fire was extinguished, but the vehicle was 100% damaged."

Avon and Somerset Police also attended and are now dealing with the incident.
