A SOMERSET MP has been told to self-isolate.

John Penrose, who represents Weston-super-Mare, received a message from the MHS Covid-19 app telling him to 'take himself out of circulation'.

His wife, Baroness Dido Harding, who has not been told to self-isolate, is in charge of the NHS Test and Trace scheme.

Mr Penrose took to social media to inform his constituents.

He said on Twitter: "It never rains but it pours... my NHS app has just gone off, telling me to self-isolate, which I'm doing."

It is unknown who Mr Penrose, who has not had any symptoms of the virus, potentially came into contact with to trigger the advice for him to self-isolate.

He told the Press Association: "We are trying to make sure we are doing it by the book, if I can put it that way.

"Her NHS app has not gone off, so it's someone I have been in contact with rather than her."
