A BRIDGE in Taunton is closed until December for a "facelift".
Somerset West and Taunton Council (SWT) have closed the Castle Green Bridge to replace the glass floor panels and repair the lighting.
A spokesperson from SWT said: “SWT is giving the iconic Castle Green Bridge in Taunton, a facelift.
"The glass-panelled bridge with strip lighting appears to float across the grass moat connecting Castle Green with Goodland Gardens.
"The glass floor panels are being replaced and sections of lighting repaired by a specialist contractor to keep the bridge in good condition with an anticipated completion for the works in the first week of December.”
The bridge was shortlisted for a British Construction Industry Award and a RIBA award.
It was also the winner of the Association of Consulting Engineers (ACE) 'constructing excellence' award.
