AN appeal in Taunton for new toys to be given as Christmas presents to children from families in need is being run by Major Lindsey TOY!

Major Toy is heading up the Salvation Army initiative in the county town for toys and groceries for people struggling at this time of year.

People are being asked to drop off donations at the movement's church in South Street, Taunton, between 9am and noon every weekday.

There is an allocated space for people to leave toys and food, which will be distributed to families in need ahead of the festivities.

People should wear a face mask and hand sanitise before entering the building and leaving their gifts in a dedicated space.

Major Toy said the appeal is run annually, adding: "The public are most generous in helping us meet the demands made upon us.

"However, this year the appeal for children's toys and groceries is difficult as due to Covid 19 we do not have as many collecting places, but the demands upon us have doubled.

"Therefore, we are appealing to the public of Taunton to help us."
