YEAR 9 students at The King Alfred School Academy have been told to self isolate after a confirmed case of Covid-19.

They will not be allowed to return to the school in Burnham Road until Thursday, December 3.

In a letter sent to parents today (November 25) the school's principal Nathan Jenkins, said: "I have been notified today of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Year 9.

"In line with guidance from Public Health England, all students in Year 9 will need to self-isolate until Wednesday, December 2, returning to school on Thursday, December 3.

"This period will be 14 days from the last possible contact with the positive case. School remains open to all other students and providing that your child remains well, they can continue to attend school as normal.

"We will keep this under review and update you as appropriate.

"Please be reassured that all close contacts of the case are in the process of receiving appropriate advice."
