THE Covid-19 infection is well below 100 in one Somerset district - and well over 100 in the other three.
Figures released this evening (Wednesday) show there were 137 new confirmed cases of the virus in Somerset West and Taunton in the latest seven-day period - an infection rate of 88.3 per 100,000 of population.
In the other districts there were 132 positive tests in seven days in Mendip (at a rate of 114.2 per 100,000); Sedgemoor had 182 new confirmed cases (rate of 147.8 per 100,000); and South Somerset saw 223 new confirmed cases (rate of 132.5 per 100,000).
The latest daily figures were 16 new confirmed cases in Mendip, which has now seen an overall total of 804 cases; 20 positive tests in Sedgemoor (1,433 total); 17 new confirmed cases in SWT (total 1,401); and 18 new confirmed cases in South Somerset (total 1,344).
