A SUSPECTED drug dealer has been arrested after losing a foot chase with police – and being found with a Kinder Egg stuffed with cocaine.

At about 5.40am this morning Northumbria Police officers were on patrol in Blakelaw when they spotted a car travelling with no lights.

They approached the vehicle as it pulled into Gorse Hill Way but the driver then got out the vehicle and fled the area on foot.

But a 24-year-old man was quickly arrested after they chased him down and detained him.

He was searched at which point officers found a large amount of cash – and a Kinder Egg stuffed with wraps of white powder.

Police also seized scales linked to the supply of drugs and equipment often used to carry out thefts and burglaries.

What started as a routine traffic stop has resulted in the seizure of drugs, cash and other items linked to suspected criminality.
