WE all know that Saturday night is takeaway night, but what is your favourite?

This weekend we take a look at the best Chinese takeaways in Somerset according to Trip Advisor reviews, to inspire you takeaway choices.

1. Fusion, Weston-super-Mare

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 207 reviews

One reviewer said: “We have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions, and absolutely love it. Food and service are impeccable. Eaten pretty much the entire menu now - my favourite is the Chef's Special King Prawns in Garlic, wow. Chicken chow mein is exceptional. Will be visiting again very soon.”

2. The Dragon Pearl, Frome

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 331 reviews

One reviewer said: “The restaurant's lighting was neither blindingly bright or too dark, but cozily dim. The tables well-spaced.

“Staff were polite, helpful, and provided enough distance for us to be comfortable rather than tap the table waiting for assistance.

“The starter and main dishes that we had seemed to be prepared with thought and skill, the flavours well-blended, the culinary experience extremely satisfying. My fish was plump and tasty, my partner's tofu and wine of good quality.

“It was a real treat and a very pleasant night out. The only possible downside to this restaurant is the accessibility. It's on the first floor, and I was unaware of an elevator.”

3. Mei’s Buffet Restaurant, Taunton

Rating: 4 stars out of 489 reviews

One reviewer said: “We went to Mei’s for lunch. The surroundings were beautiful and the food was amazing. The food was behind perspex screens and a member of staff filled your plate for you. There was plenty of choice and the staff couldn’t do enough to help you. We would definitely visit again and again.”

4. Noble House, Worle (near Weston-super-Mare)

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 298 reviews

One reviewer said: “Ordered a takeaway as a Birthday treat for a member of the family and was not disappointed.

“The food was well packed, tasty and plentiful. We went for the Chefs Special Dinner D and supplemented with some personal favourites like lemon chicken and satay.

“Overall an outstanding spread with quality, well prepared and tasty dishes. I can highly recommend the food from Noble House. Thank you Noble House for making our small family get together such a memorable occasion.”

5. Fortune Inn, Taunton

Rating: 5 stars out of 26 reviews

One reviewer said: “The Fortune Inn is literally an old pub, converted to a Chinese restaurant. I don’t think it’s 100% finished yet- still a bit of decorating to do as the owners has not been there too long.

“On welcome to the restaurant we were warmly greeted by a lovely couple- whom I believe are the owners. We were taken to our seats and shortly after our drinks order was taken.

“We have travelled extensively- it’s very hard to find decent Chinese in the U.K... typical U.K. restaurants use low quality ingredients and tend to be very sauce heavy.

“This restaurant cooks food very very well- really good quality, tasty and very well presented. A real balance of flavours, textures and visually very appealing.

“This is hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants we have been in, in the U.K.”

6. Taste of the Orient, Burnham-on-Sea

Rating: 4 stars out of 280 reviews

One reviewer said: “Excellent Chinese takeaway/restaurant.

“We stay in Brean once a year and always have a takeaway on the last night of our holiday.

“This place never disappoints – it is far better than any of our local restaurants. Highly recommended!”

7. Zen Restaurant, Weston-super-Mare

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 159 reviews

One reviewer said: “We had an excellent meal and experience at Zen. Really great friendly customer service.

“My daughter is a vegan and the waiter explained and recommended options for her. All of which she said were delicious.

“All our food was wonderful, freshly cooked and came out piping hot. We will definitely be coming back. The restaurant also had in-place all the correct Covid measures and we felt very safe. This a wonderful family based business which really deserves our support during this difficult period. If you love Chinese food we would highly recommend.”

8. Sugar Cane, Yeovil

Rating: 4 stars out of 111 reviews

One reviewer said: “We requested our meal was delivered at 8.50pm and on the dot it was at the door, everything we had was piping hot and clearly made fresh.

“We do sometimes have little things that aren’t perfect but nothing bad enough to put us off.

“Having tried a couple of Chinese takeaways during lockdown (due to sugar canes closure) I will definitely not be going anywhere else.”

9. New Canton Restaurant, Wellington

Rating: 4 stars out of 110 reviews

One reviewer said: “The quality of the food is very good. Very tasty and it was ready at the time they said. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because it’s a bit pricey. However if I stayed in Wellington again I would use this takeaway again.”

10. Golden House, Street

Rating: 4 stars out of 99 reviews

One reviewer said: “This restaurant was empty when we arrived, but we were welcomed warmly.

“The food is a little expensive, but the quality is lovely and the portion sizes are huge, e.g. chicken chow mein is £9.50 but easily feeds two people.

“All the food was cooked freshly and was piping hot when served.

“Would recommend if you’re in the area.”
