Who doesn't enjoy a visit to Nando's?

It's one of the most popular restaurant chains, particularly among young people.

We thought we'd take a look to see how safe it is to eat its chicken meals.

And you'll be pleased to hear Nando's has been given a clean bill of health in its three Somerset restaurants.

According to the food hygiene ratings handed out by the relevant local authority, Nando's comes out with top marks.

The ratings judged by the district councils reflect the standards of food hygiene found on the date of the inspection by that local authority. It is not a guide to food quality.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0 which is displayed at their premises and online so you can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food.

A 5 is the top mark, signifying that hygiene standards are "very good"; 4 is for "good"; 3 for "generally satisfactory"; 2 means "some improvement is necessary"; 1 "major improvement is necessary"; and 0 stands for "urgent improvement is required".

The Nando's in Taunton, Yeovil and Weston-super-Mare all received the top rating of 5.
