MORE than 23 sacks of rubbish was collected from a Somerset village last month.
Volunteers from Kingston St Mary and Nailsbourne, in Taunton, took part in a litter pick to clear parish lanes and public areas in the village.
Jean Alger-Green, organiser of the litter pick, said it was “sad” to see so much rubbish.
“We live in a beautiful village and it is sad to see litter and other large items dumped recklessly and with no thought for others,” she said.
“It is a health-hazard in some cases and certainly a danger to wildlife. As a community we work together and try to have two litter picks a year.
“But this year our Spring event was cancelled due to Covid-19.”
Volunteers collected cans and plastic bottles, as well as car tyres, wheel hubs and several bags of discarded dog poo.
